FNL: Edelle McMahon

One of Ireland's finest singer songwriters, Edelle McMahon, recently released her long-awaited debut album entitled Adventures In Narcissism. “It’s not actually all about me, I just loved the title. It made me laugh.” This is the tongue in cheek title of the album, a five-year culmination of writing and recording, which has received glowing reviews from journalists, bloggers and radio presenters.

Originally from County Monaghan, Edelle now lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Starting out as a Sean-nÓs (traditional a capella singing) performer as a child, over the course of two decades she has repeatedly received province- and country-wide Irish traditional and folk awards. Blending influences ranging from Sean-nÓs storytelling to starkly confessional acoustics, Edelle’s music features a spellbinding mix of heart-tugging melodies, powerfully brooding lyrics and haunting vocals.

Edelle’s captivating vocals and intricate guitar picking frame songs that feature a wry world view and incisive insight into character.

“Unique, creative, captivating and very, very clever.” – Julie Williams-Nash, Folk and Tumble

“Simply outstanding…. [Edelle] is going to enthral audiences wherever she plays.” – Michael Barbour, Gigging NI

‘Really beautiful…. a gorgeous album.’ – Ralph McLean, BBC Radio Ulster
