A solo exhibition by Ned Jackson Smyth

“These works are occupied with “Home” and my perceptions are explored through sculptural forms.

Growing up in Belfast during the troubles, my family ‘Home’ was attacked periodically and my family subjected to threat and violence. This has instilled some negative memories however; I still consider this house in Belfast as my ‘Home’.

The displacement of many people globally, raises the question, where does ‘Home” lie? Humans are social animals with an urge to communicate and seek belonging. These senses political, economic, ethnic, and linguistic, lead to national identities and I consider many of these concepts of “Home” in these works.” – Ned Jackson Smyth
