Bardo: An Unknown Country

A solo exhibition by Brian Kielt

Bardo comes from the Tibetan word ‘bár-do’ which translates as ‘between two’. In Buddhism the bardo represents a stage of the soul between death and the ultimate goal; rebirth and peace. This exhibition examines the notion of the ‘trauma paradox’ as a sort of bardo; where traumatic experiences was once confusing and terrifying can ultimately lead to positive outcomes of those affected.

Additional Information

Work in this exhibition was made possible by the iDA grant awarded by the University of Atypical supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and aims to raise funds for Action Mental Health based in Newtownards.

Exhibition Preview: Thursday 3 October, wine reception from 7pm
