John Hewitt International Summer School at The Marketplace Theatre & Arts Centre, Armagh

The John Hewitt International Summer School is a five-day festival of culture and creativity which takes place in the last week of July every year in The Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre, Armagh.

The 30th John Hewitt International Summer School will take place Monday 24 July – Friday 28 July 2017. The annual programme features readings, talks, discussions and debates as well as celebrating visual art, music and theatre. The 2017 programme will be available on the John Hewitt Society website in June 2017.

Supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Armagh City & District Council, the Community Relations Council, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Andras House, the International Summer School is now in its 30th year.

Ards and North Down Arts Service is delighted to be offering a five-day residency to this renowned Summer School.The residency is open to writers, teachers, critics of literature or anyone with a strong literary interest based or working in the Ards and North Down Borough.

Deadline for applications: Wednesday 31 May, 12noon.
