Please note: ALL class and workshop fees are payable in full on enrolment and are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by Ards Arts Centre.  Participants will be required to bring their own materials unless otherwise stated.

All classes are suitable for ages 18 years+ only unless otherwise stated.

We make a decision on whether to run a course one week before the start date. Please help us to help you by enrolling promptly.

Classes commence the week beginning 21 January 2019 and will run for 10 weeks unless otherwise stated.

Lee Boyd will help you explore the mediums, techniques and styles of drawing, ways of looking and how to capture mark making that builds your confidence and enjoyment of the process of drawing.

In this short course designed specifically for beginners, participants will be given a hands-on introduction to the various hand-building methods of sculptural ceramics.

These classes will centre around building skills in watercolour painting with Trisha Campbell

This is a great opportunity to explore a variety of bead jewellery making techniques to make jewellery to complement your wardrobe!

During these classes we will focus on learning and developing acrylic and oil painting techniques.

A relaxed and informative painting class exploring all aspects of approaching Oil and Acrylic painting.

Whether you have just bought yourself a new guitar or are looking to improve upon your playing skills, Darren can teach you the skills to make you a better player.

If you enjoy sketching and using watercolours, you can improve your skills and experiment using simple yet effective pen and wash techniques.

Learn the timeless craft of patch-working with the help of Gillian Barr

Due to popular demand, an evening class of illustration with Bernice Anderson has been added.

Through a series of exercises the aim is to improve ways of seeing, develop mark making skills, improve decision making and above all encourage each unique and individual style.

This class is suitable for those advanced or experienced pupils in traditional, modern and contemporary floral arrangements.

Suitable for complete beginners and those with little experience, create your own floral displays while learning the principles of floral arrangements.

Learn the different styles of Calligraphy with artist Jacquie Brachi

The aim of these 4-week art sessions is to inspire young minds to grow their artistic talent and practical skills while encouraging imagination and creativity.

Suitable for ages 7 - 12 years.
Children will explore hand building and decorating techniques to produce a range of different and exciting sculptures and models in clay.

Open up the world of colour in this one day workshop where you will get to grips with Colour Theory.

This one-day workshop is for anyone with an interest in reading and writing poetry.

Spend a day of fun in the workshop and create beautiful silver stacking rings.

By exploring a range of media and approaches to drawing the figure, the aim is to improve your observational drawing, inspire your interest in the subject and access new ways of approaching your drawing.

Calling all Easter bunnies who want to get creative over the holidays! Put down that chocolate egg and hop along to Ards Arts Centre to enjoy a whole day of arts, drama and clay activities.
AGES: 6 - 12 years

Over two workshops design and make a small piece of mosaic to decorate your home using a basic mosaic technique.

Using the "gutta" or outline technique and a silk frame, create your own piece of textile art.  

Become familiar with the fundamental techniques required to sculpt wool fibres by attending this taster session.

Learn how to crochet 'Granny Square' style triangular bunting, and embellish them with beads, buttons and tassels.

Create a portrait of your favourite pet, use the memory of stroking their precious head to sculpt and mould the clay.

Using dry and soaked willow Clive Lyttle from Welig Heritage Crafts will guide you through the processes involved to produce your very own beautiful willow crafts.  

Drypoint printmaking is the most accessible print form, a relaxing process that creates beautiful results!

Singer and teacher Diane Petherick-Holt teaches all the songs by ear in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

If you are a keen knitter (or enjoy crochet)and love a good natter, you'll love this weekly knitting circle!

Join us for an inclusive art club on the first Friday of each month, suitable for anyone requiring a gentler pace of class with less focus on skills or for those that maybe just need a little extra help to bring out their creativity.
