Ards Arts Centre programme a wide variety of weekly Creative Classes, One-day Workshops and Children's Art Classes and Schemes.

The classes are run each term: January - April (up to 10 weeks), May - August (up to 6 weeks), September - December (up to 10 weeks)

ENROLMENT DAY - Enrolments will be taken in person or by telephone on 028 9181 0803, on Wednesday 8 January 2020 between 9am and 5pm.*

Please note: ALL class and workshop fees are payable in full on enrolment and are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by Ards Arts Centre.  Participants will be required to bring their own materials unless otherwise stated.

All classes are suitable for ages 18 years+ only unless otherwise stated.

We make a decision on whether to run a course one week before the start date. Please help us to help you by enrolling promptly.

Classes commence the week beginning 20 January 2020 and will run for 10 weeks unless otherwise stated. 

*Classes fill up quickly, so please book early on Enrolment Day to avoid disappointment!

 

Lee Boyd will help you explore the mediums, techniques and styles of drawing, ways of looking and how to capture mark making that builds your confidence and enjoyment of the process of drawing.

This course, designed specifically for beginners, gives participants a hands-on introduction to the various hand-building methods of sculptural ceramics.

During these classes we will focus on learning and developing acrylic and oil painting techniques.

A relaxed and informative painting class exploring all aspects of approaching Oil and Acrylic painting.

Due to popularity, a third Illustration class has been added to our programme with Bernice Anderson!

Whether you have just bought yourself a new guitar or are looking to improve upon your playing skills, Darren can teach you the skills to make you a better player.

If you enjoy sketching and using watercolours, you can improve your skills and experiment using simple yet effective pen and wash techniques.

Learn the timeless craft of patch-working with the help of Gillian Barr

An evening class of illustration with Bernice Anderson.

Through a series of exercises the aim is to improve ways of seeing, develop mark making skills, improve decision making and above all encourage each unique and individual style.

Learn the techniques of Silversmithing with Diane Lyness and create your own pieces of jewellery!

This class is suitable for those advanced or experienced pupils in traditional, modern and contemporary floral arrangements.

Suitable for complete beginners and those with little experience, create your own floral displays while learning the principles of floral arrangements.

Learn the different styles of Calligraphy with artist Jacquie Brachi

This class will cover a wide range of photographic techniques, making it perfect for the beginner and also for those with more experience, who are looking to try something new.

A fun, sensory, creative experience for little folk from age 1 to preschool led by Zo� McCandless from Creative Natives.

Suitable for ages: 6 - 10 years
The aim of this 4-week art session is to inspire young minds to grow their artistic talent and practical skills while encouraging imagination and creativity.

In this one-day workshop facilitated by sculptor Marc Kelly, participants will learn the basics of stone carving using locally sourced Sandstone and specialist tooling.

Through the theme of the popular book "Marvellous Me", your children will be introduced to simple, but effective tools to promote relaxation, mindfulness and a positive mindset.

Through the themes of fairy tales and bedtime stories this restful evening session introduces children to simple, but effective tools to promote relaxation, mindfulness and a positive mindset.

Ards Arts Book Club is for avid readers keen to share their thoughts and opinions on current books, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  

Singer and teacher Diane Petherick-Holt teaches all the songs by ear in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

If you are a keen knitter (or enjoy crochet)and love a good natter, you'll love this weekly knitting circle!

Join us for an inclusive art club on the first Friday of each month, suitable for anyone requiring a gentler pace of class with less focus on skills or for those that maybe just need a little extra help to bring out their creativity.
