Plan your Summer with the new Arts and Heritage Guide

The latest edition of Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Arts and Heritage Guide has launched! The Summer guide, covering May to August is filled with information on events, exhibitions, arts festivals, funding opportunties and creative classes as well as everything happening in North Down Museum over the coming months.

Highlights from the Arts and Heritage Summer programme include Ards Puppet Festival which is returning to Newtownards on Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May. For two days Ards Arts Centre and Conway Square will be animated with puppets of all shapes and sizes brought to life by the mastery of their puppeteers.

Music-lovers can look forward to Canadian super-group ‘The Fretless’ perform at The Chamber, Bangor Castle on Thursday 9 May and the Ulster Orchestra make a welcome return to Bangor Abbey on Friday 14 June with their popular On Your Doorstep concert.

Bangor Castle’s Walled Garden plays host to the ForM Sculpture Exhibition in June and the popular Summer Theatre returns in July with family fun in the shape of David Walliam’s Gangsta Granny and an enchanting evening production of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.

For those who wish to ‘have a go’, the Get Creative event will take place at Ards Arts Centre on Saturday 11 May and the annual Creative Peninsula festival in August offers an abundance of opportunities to try your hand at arts and craft practices.

If you’d like to learn a new skill or perhaps develop existing skills, Ards Arts Centre has lots of creative classes on offer – from calligraphy to patchwork, painting to ceramics and lots more! Enrolment day for classes takes place Wednesday 8May 2019 between 9am and 5pm

There’s lots happening at North Down Museum too. Within the pages of the new guide, you’ll find details of a whole host of exhibitions and events taking place. Highlights include the Summer Craft Market on 27 and 28 July, Music In The Courtyard which takes place every Friday lunchtime in August and the Ballyholme Yacht Club Centenary exhibition which runs from 8 May – 25 July.

The Arts & Heritage Summer Guide is available from Ards Arts Centre, North Down Museum or one of our Visitor Information Centres or download from www.ardsarts.com or www.northdownmuseum.com. Pick up a copy and be inspired!
